Goin' Fishin'

I have decided to run for a position in the Presidency of the spouses association at BYU (basically a wives' club). I really enjoy all the activities and events that being a member of the association has provided and would love the opportunity to make a difference in the group next year. So, here is where you come in. I know what I perceive as my own strengths and weaknesses, but I would love to hear an outsiders point of view on what would make me a good leader (and if you have weaknesses you'd like to point out, I could handle that, too . . .) So I'm fishing for your comments. I have to come up with the reasons I am qualified by Friday night, so I would love your input ASAP. Thanks for being my blog friends :) love you all :)

Up, Down, Movin' all around

Video of Jackson doing what he does best . . .MOVING! I am on constant duty. Yesterday I let him play in the back of the primary room and he stood up on the carrier and fell over. He also found a big wad of paper perfect for his mouth . . .scary! Especially when he gets a determined look in his eye, I know he is going for something he shouldn't (notice the purse in the video). He seems a little young to be pulling up so skillfully, but nothing can stop him, not even flat walls, rocking carriers, people's knees, There ain't no mountain high enough that he can't climb.

I know that videos of babies aren't always that entertaining, so I jazzed it up a bit . . . try it, you'll like it!

Wake up! It's Monday morning!

Today started off with taking Dave to the bus stop like normal, but as I was driving home, I saw 5 blocks of snow fall off the telephone wire and fall down all at once. I thought, “Hey that’s cool, I didn’t know it all fell down at the same time!” As I drove the final 2 blocks to my house, I noticed a van in our neighbors yard! I once again thought, “That is crazy that someone got in an accident during the night!” Then I noticed the lights were still on, and I looked in and there were people in the van.

At this point I finally realized that I was the first person on the scene of a crazy accident! Both teenagers in the car seemed to be all right. The driver pulled off his shoe and dumped his entire window of glass out. He kept saying he was going to call 911, but he wasn’t doing it (I think he was in shock). Finally, I realized I should be doing something and I called 911. I let them in my house to clean up before 2 fire engines, an ambulance and several police cars showed up. I think the kids will be fine, but the car is totaled. An hour later our block lost electricity and I have been trying to come up with things to do in the dark (thank goodness for laptops and cell phones!) I played games with our upstairs neighbor since they had more light streaming in than I did. Situations like this make me grateful for all the blessings I have, temporally and physically. It makes me appreciate the little things (like a car) much more.

P.S This house is for sale and it is absolutely gorgeous if you are interested (I am sure the fence will be mended soon!)

Simple truths

Teaching singing time to the junior primary kids is a calling that I have enjoyed. Most of the time it feels more like entertaining 30 kids, rather than being spiritual. but sometimes the simplicity of the principles I am teaching through song just hit me and the spirit is able to confirm again the truth of the things I know.
The past Sunday I was teaching the song "I lived in Heaven" about our pre-mortal life. The second verse starts with. "Father said He needed someone who had enough love . . . to give his life so we all could return there above". As I repeated these word to the kids and asked them who loved us so much that he gave his life, my eyes filled with tears and my throat filled with a lump thinking about the precious gift that Jesus Christ has given us. He truly is our Savior, who volunteered from the beginning to give his life for us. My brother and my Redeemer. I love Him and am so grateful (this word seems so lacking in the thanks I want to express) for his sacrifice in my behalf. The simplicity of this truth taught through the song enables the spirit to confirm and to testify.

Parents fail attempt at babyproofing

Parents of an active 6 month old tried, on Wednesday, to make their house safer for their son. The father was quoted, "Our TV, DVD player, VHS, and play station were all out in the open and on the floor. We wanted to put them behind closed doors to take away the temptation to touch or lick the electronics." These conciencious and caring parents bought a brand new TV stand and rearranged the electronics to accomodate their sons quickly expanding moving skills. However, Jack (names have been changed to protect the innocent) quickly adjusted to the new item and learned the "ins" and "outs" of the "child proof" system. As soon as the stand was in the living room, Jack was able to see his reflection in the glass and was facinated as he tried to reach out and touch what he saw. Within one minute of installing the new device, Dad noticed that the door had been opened . . . and not by himself. The DVD packages were quickly pulled out and eaten. Finally, with a bit of practice, Jack was able to use this new furniture as leverage to stand up (and to fall down for that matter). Parents are distressed and confused. They are reaching out for help in the process of making the house a safe harbor for the little one to play. Jackson turned 6 months old, so I decided it was about time for him to join the work force. His resume is superb and I am sure he will have no problem finding someone willing to hire him for his good looks and unique skills. (click on image to read detailed stats and developments)

My blog is my way of creatively displaying the events and feeling of my life. I have struggled for a month trying (and failing) to think of a "fun" way to post about the exciting (and not so exciting) events of the holidays to captivate and inspire my loving readers . . .

I want to keep my readers (all 3 of them- thanks Alissa, Sandra and Mom) entertained so they continue to read about my life and

I am worried if I post big long paragraphs they will get bored a stop reading

so if I keep hitting enter it looks less daunting to read, so people will still read it

and then they

will

be

entertained . . .

right?

Lame excuse huh?

I should probably just skip the holidays since everyone's blog followers are overloaded with Christmas events and you have probably stopped reading them by now so I don't have you undivided attention anyway (am I vain or what?)
