Totally Tubular Tater Tuesday

Inspired by our friends living in the land of cheese, we wanted to celebrate our time in Idaho by doing what the Idahoans do . . . EAT POTATOES! So each Tuesday, we are going to try out another recipe that invovles a new way to eat potatoes. Our first week was a bit of a failure, but you can't get better if you don't have a low standard for starting out right?

I tried to make "creamy in the middle" fries in honor of Dave's internship with the best fry making company in the world. Everything was going great, until I used too much oil and left them in the oven too long. Honestly, about 75% of the batch tasted good and about 25% we actually "creamy in the middle" (I just wished we had ketchup . . another thing you never miss when you are at home) This is just a pic of the left overs.
(Pay no attention to the "I-just-went-running-to-work-off-all-the-grease-i-just-ate-sweaty" look)
Any suggestions for your favorite potato dish?

"Creamy in the middle" fries?!? Crazy! I am sorry that they didn't turn out well. It sounds like our Bacon Cheese experiment! :) I have a yummy potato/cheese soup recipe that I would be glad to pass along if you would like it! Have fun with all the new recipes!

I LOVE my mom's 4th of July potatoes! You thinly slice a whole bunch of potatoes and stack them lengthwise in a pan. Then you sprinkly Lawry's on top and put about a 1 to 1 1/2 cubes of butter broken up on top. Bake at 400 basting the butter every 15 minutes or so for an hour I think. Then during the last 5 minutes, sprinkle with rock or sea salt and parsley. SOOOOOO good!!

Ooooh, what a great idea. Way to enjoy your surroundings girl! I'm gonna have to think of some Texan tradition. Hmmmm, maybe this is a great excuse to have to eat Texan BBQ each week. Or maybe I should be more domestic like you and try to learn how to make it :)

Loved your update here and on the internship blog. So fun!
