Projects

I am a jack-of-many-trades, master of none.  I like to learn new things, but am rarely patient or perserverant enough to be good  at them.  That being said, I am excited about many of the projects I am 'almost' done with.  I sometimes go a little crazy with projects . . . this has been one of those times.  But I am excited at how many things have turned out.

#1 Yahtzee blocks - In order to get them afford-ably, I commissioned others in my neighborhood to make sets as well, so I made 6 sets of my own and then helped many others make theirs.   It should be a fun game.  I also made 'story blocks' for a game for Jackson.

#2 Necklaces.  I found these awesome missionary necklaces, but with 2 missionaries out, I once again, had to find an affordable option.  These aren't as cute as some, but hopefully they will still be meaningful.

While I was at it, I also made my mom a bracelet with initials of each grandkids (and room to grow and add charms).

Jacksons teachers are also getting necklaces for Christmas

#3 Refinishing furniture
I wanted to re-do the bunk beds.  They were too intricate to even think about sanding it.  I learned about something called "chalk paint" and then I learned how to MAKE it myself (once again, I am such a cheapskate, I'm always trying to save $).  So I made it to re-do the bunk beds.  After many hours and many coats of paint and drips, I decided it wasn't worth my time or energy to finish them, so I sold them half done and bought new ones.  Finally, for the first time in my kids lives, they have bedding and I LOVE it!  I am trying to coordinate Jackson's and Hallie's room and so far I like the look!

Before: no bedding, old bunk beds:

After 6 coats of paint and lots of drip marks later . ..

After: NEW bunk beds, Coordinating bedding

Even though I completely failed my first project, I talked my mom into trying it on her piece of furniture.  I love how it turned out.  I helped pick out and make the paint, my dad did all the sanding and finishing.

Then I did a chest (I found on the side of the road) and turned it into an office/filing cabinet.  I love the way it turned out (although it still isn't finished who knows if/when I'll ever finish it!)

#4 Child of God Wall Art
I found a similar design on Etsy months ago.  When I went to look for it, it was gone, so I made my own.  I really like how they look and have even sold a few to others.

Also, our Christmas card should be making its appearance soon, let me know if you'd like one.
Only 2-3 more projects to go before Christmas . . .wish me luck!

WHY is Jackson holding a book about Will and Kate?

I love projects! Sometimes they can be hit or miss, but still there is something about the feeling of accomplishment you get when you do get it right. I LOVE Jackson and Hallie's bedding.
