Jackson's cousin was visiting. Jackson wondered if he was going to live with us. I asked him if he wanted a baby brother. He said, "Mom, you don't have a baby in your tummy! You only have fat food!"
Me: "Are you calling me fat?"
J: "No, You just have fat food in your tummy."
Oh, I am so glad that was cleared up!
After asking for more food, I responded, "Absolutely". As soon as the words came out, I realized that I rarely used the word 'absolutely' in the form of a positive. I wondered if Jackson would realize, too. I could see the wheels churning in his head and within a few seconds, he said, "Mom, Absolutely is BAD, like 'absolutely NOT!" Yep, I am teaching my kid a limited vocabulary :(
After a silly comment, or face from Jackson, I said, "That's ridiculous!" and laughed a little.
Then I hear, " . . .said Hare . . ." ("'That's ridiculous', said Hare" is a line from a favorite recent book. He memorizes books like crazy, but it is a little annoying because if daddy reads it one way, I MUST read it the same way or he gets so mad (or vice versa)..
J: "I am eating dinosaur pork . . . it is pretend good."
Dave was singing a rap about the hatred of bedtime and sang, "Who on earth would need to go to bed?"
J: "YOU need to go to bed, Dad!!
Jackson has a 'wife' whose name is Jamie (really creative I know!) and she makes delicious pies. (It is a bit ironic since Dave's wife Jamie has never made a pie in her life! I guess this is where the creativity comes in). When Jackson pointed out to Dave that I was his wife, Dave inquired further about Jackson's understanding of the husband and wife relationship. After a few 'to be expected' answers, Dave asked "What else to wives do for husbands?"
J: "They help them with stuff. Like lifting things. heavy things, like lifting heavy baskets for their husbands."

What a fun kid and a fun age! If this were facebook, I'd "like" your mom's comment.
