I called the hospital and they said we could take him to the ER or call 911 and have the paramedics check his oxygen levels. Hmmm . . .what do you think I picked?
Looking back, I'd like to say that I called 911 out of financial reasons . . . since an ER bill is not in the student budget. Anyway, at 1 am 8 paramedics, police officer and various other personel enter the premises (scaring our neighbors to death) and check Jackson out. Didn't I feel silly when they suggested he had . . . croup?

Anyway, at 1 am 8 paramedics, police officer and various other personel enter the premises (scaring our neighbors to death) and check Jackson out. Didn't I feel silly when they suggested he had . . . croup? I didn't think he was sick because he was fine 4 hours earlier. But I guess it comes on strong at night. Anyway, we happen to have his "re-check" for 18 months the next morning at 8 am (inspired?) So we slept ok for 5 hours.
On Jackson's "re-take" of the 18 month test, he did GREAT! His head circumference leveled off. he is 34 inches long (75%) and 24 lbs(15%). He has only gained 1 pound in 6 months! but he is just so darn active . . .and such a picky eater! Anyway, after his sickness this week, I'm sure he's lost at least a pound, so we have some work to do (Dave enthusiastically suggests ice cream!)
The doctor was impressed with his talking, drawing, overall health.
Speech: We estimate he can say over 75 words and has at least 10 strangers can understand. The tricky part is learning how he says things ('mun' for run, "balk" for walk, box, truck, block and rock- determined by context, 'un noh" for tunnel, etc). He has learned off (ought) and on, open and close. The hard part is know what he wants ON (music, TV, on the table, etc). Anyway, probably too much info for the average blog stalker, but I thought it would be good for me to remember how he started learning to talk
The great part about Dave being a student is he has a somewhat flexible schedule, which means he gets to be the stay-at-home one day a week. He took Jackson to the park last week and they enjoyed playing together (this is morning before it snowed). We love our little Jacks and can't wait for him to be back to healthy and happy!

Yes we were super worried about you guys seeing all the commotion at that hour of night! I was so glad everything was ok!
Jamie... I L-O-V-E these pictures of Jackson! I hope you print them and hang them on your walls, because they are frame-worthy!
Glad to hear Jackson is well, and it sounds like he endured his sickness with a happy attitude too! Always nice.
I'm with Stacy....I shot right out of bed when I heard the paramedics. I couldn't go back to sleep forever!! My heart was just pounding. I just think breathing problems are SO scary!
I LOVE those pictures! Did Dave take them? Jackson looks like a little boy. He is so cute.
Jamie, I am so sorry for the scare you had. I don't think there is anything more scary, then when your child can't breath. And the E.R. bill can be ridiculous as well. We took Ava to the E.R. after she had a seizure and they did all sorts of tests on her. It happened only because she got too hot. We were just outraged by the bill. It was close to $800 for our own peace of mind. That's made me think twice about going to the E.R. now. Anyway, Jackson is just the cutest little boy I have ever seen in my life. I love how you do his hair. ;) Great pictures. Thanks for posting! Hopefully we'll see you in a few weeks.
WOW! I can't believe how big Jax is getting. He really looks like a little boy not a baby or a toddler. He's just so stinking cute. I'm so glad that he's fine and that his breathing was just croup. Maia had that too. If I had just known to take her outside for some cold air... Crazy. The joys of motherhood. :)
Oh man, croup is totally scary. My boys had it about a month ago, and I had a hard time sleeping at night because of how much they were weezing. I would have reacted the same way Jamie!
We had croup last year! Did the ER, $800 later we wished we had just gone for a walk outside! So hard to know what to do though, you hate to err on the side of not doing enough! Thankfully we've escaped the croup this year!
SOOOO SCARY!! I am glad that he is ok and finally "passed" his 18 mo check up. Shad is the same way with eating and being so active but luckily the Dr. doesnt seem worried about it. What foods are you finding that Jackson will eat, maybe I will try those.
He sure is a handsome little guy. I love all the park pictures. I'm glad the "recheck" went well!
